A family project
Preserve family recipes and minhagim before Pesach
Write down the ingredients, methods and memories behind your family's preparations.
When to begin
Start 10–12 weeks before Pesach, while there is time for an unhurried conversation.
Use the date observed by your own family and community. Work backward from that date; the project can stay small.
Your project
- Choose one recipe and one custom rather than trying to document everything.
- Ask the cook to explain quantities, texture and signs of readiness.
- Record who taught each practice and distinguish family custom from general guidance.
- Make a private draft recipe collection and invite relatives to correct their versions.
Start with one useful resource
Keep the result together
Store the original, the source and the sharing permission with the finished record. Ask one relative to review it before inviting a wider audience.
