Family Archive Principles
A family archive should preserve memory without quietly turning guesses into facts. These principles guide how Pinkas handles every record and every new tool.
Pinkas does not silently rewrite your family history.
1. Originals remain originals
The file, recording, wording, spelling, and date a family receives are kept as received. Cleaner versions, crops, transcripts, and outputs sit beside the source instead of overwriting it.
2. Sources stay attached
A contributor's name, a cited document, an interview, or a note about who remembers something gives a record meaning. Pinkas keeps sources and provenance attached wherever the product collects them.
3. Confidence is visible
Confirmed information, unverified information, disputed information, and AI-suggested information are different states. Pinkas keeps those differences visible instead of flattening them into one confident-looking answer.
4. AI assists; family confirms
AI may help transcribe, organize, detect a possible duplicate, or suggest a connection. A suggestion does not become family history merely because software produced it. A family member reviews and confirms it.
5. Access follows family permissions
Family roles, private records, groups, and scoped guest links determine who may see or change material. A new feature must fit those boundaries; convenience is not a reason to bypass them.
6. Corrections should be accountable
A family can correct a mistake without erasing the fact that a change happened. Where the product supports revision history or reversible archiving, Pinkas favors a traceable correction over a silent disappearance.
7. The family can take its record
A family can download its originals, export its archive, stop paying without losing read access, or deliberately delete the archive. Trust includes a dignified way to leave.
