Kehillah: meaning and family-history use
Kehillah means community. For family research, a community's records can supply context beyond an individual household.

How to record it in a family archive
Record the community's name as written, alternate spellings, date range, and location at the time. Distinguish an institution from a town and from a modern organization with a similar name.
A practical example
A communal register may help explain a place or institution associated with a relative without proving that every person of the same name is that relative.
Keep the original context
A glossary definition helps orient a reader; it cannot resolve an individual document, identity, or observance question. Save the original source and note who supplied any interpretation. Ask a qualified reader or the relevant community authority when the context is unclear.
