Family Tree
The Family Tree connects people without pretending the family knows more than it does. Begin with a name, then add dates, relationships, and sources as they are confirmed.
Add what you know
A display name is enough to start. A birth year or death year can be recorded without inventing an exact day. Add Hebrew names, biographies, portraits, exact dates, and places only when the family has them.
Connect relationships
Connect parent and spouse relationships. Pinkas derives children from parent links and checks confirmed ancestry for impossible cycles. A possible duplicate or relationship suggestion remains reviewable until the family decides.
Record the source and confidence
Attach a source description such as a birth certificate, gravestone photograph, family register, or the relative who supplied the information. Use confirmed, unconfirmed, disputed, and suggested states honestly.
Protect private people
Mark a living or sensitive person private to keep them off shared tree and derived calendar surfaces. Deceased people remain inside the private family archive; deceased does not mean public.
Correct without erasing
Archive or correct a mistaken record with a clear source. Reversible archiving helps a large tree recover from errors without silently destroying history.
