Photos

A photograph becomes family history when the names, place, date, source, and story stay attached to the original image.

Upload the best original

Upload the clearest version you have and keep scans in their natural orientation and resolution. Pinkas may make safe viewing derivatives, but it keeps the source file as the original.

Add the context

  • Who appears in the image, including uncertain identifications.
  • Where and when it was made, even if only a decade or general place is known.
  • Who supplied the photograph or where the physical original is kept.
  • The story that explains why the image mattered enough to save.

Choose who can see it

Choose private, family, or group visibility when the feature offers it. Use private for sensitive living people, photographs of children, medical situations, or anything the family has not agreed to share widely.

Identify people together

Photo Stories can collect annotations, proposed identifications, and family votes without covering the clean image with permanent labels. Keep uncertain names as claims until the family confirms them.
