A useful story arrives
A relative sends a photograph in a family chat and explains who is in it. In that moment, the image and its story are together.
The context drifts away
Then new messages arrive. The explanation becomes difficult to find, and a downloaded picture may no longer have its caption beside it.
Save a complete record
With the contributor's permission, keep a complete record. Save the image, the exact explanation, who supplied it, and when. Avoid copying an entire private conversation when one agreed contribution is enough.
Keep sharing choices attached
A contribution to a family chat is not permission to publish it publicly. Record who may see the preserved copy, and give the contributor a way to correct it.
