Agree on the purpose
Prepare a family interview by agreeing on its purpose. Choose a comfortable setting, leave enough time, and keep the first session short.
Ask before recording
Ask permission before recording. Let the speaker choose whether to take part and who may hear the result. A family conversation does not automatically become something to publish.
Follow the speaker
During the conversation, follow the speaker. Leave room for pauses, a change of topic, or an early finish. The person matters more than completing a list.
Offer a review
