An archive keeps the evidence
An archive preserves the records behind those relationships. Letters, photographs, recordings, recipes and source notes tell a fuller story than names and dates alone.
Keep claims connected to sources
Connect each claim to its source. Who supplied a name? Which record supports a date? What remains uncertain? Keeping that context makes future corrections possible.
Use both together
A tree and an archive work well together. Begin with one person, one story and one supporting record. Keep access private unless the people involved choose to share.
